X-Gear is a software application that uses a black box interface to talk to your vehicle. It is an application that is used primarily to assist in vehicle diagnostics (reading sensors, clearing error codes), but also offers many other valuable tools. It can also be used to measure vehicle performance and the state of your vehicle's systems at any given point in time. The system requires four simple steps to get the X-Gear software up and running on your car. You will need to plug the hardware interface into your vehicles OBD II port (The OBD II port is usually located underneath your steering column and looks something like the image on the right). You will then need to connect the other end of the interface to the laptop or computer that the X-Gear software will run on. You will then be required to install the X-Gear software. Lastly you will need to turn your vehicle on (not necessarily running, but the ignition must be turned onto the on position).
